Once the war was over, Duttu-Gemunu applied himself to helping his people
by building hospitals and homes, and by trying to improve agriculture.
He also built several Buddhist temples (called dagobas), whose ruins exist even today.
Some of the most famous buildings that were built in Duttu-Gemunu's time
are the Ruwanweli Saya and the Lowa Maha Paya.
The Mirisawetti Dagoba was also built during his time.
The construction of the Ruwanweli Dagoba was incomplete at the
time of Duttu-Gemunu's death and was completed by his younger brother, Sadhatissa,
at Duttu-Gemunu's request.
