After King Duttu-Gemunu's death, his brother ascended the throne and ruled before
being succeeded by his sons.
Some time after, King Valagamba ruled the island, was conquered by Tamil Chiefs and
regained the throne fifteen years later.
Valagamba built quite a few Buddhist temples in his time. Some of the more notable
are the Dambulla rock temples, the Abhayagiri Dagoba and the Ridhi Vihara.
After Valagamba, Sri Lanka was ruled by several kings over a period of more than
300 years, but none were too remarkable. The next note-worthy king was probably
King Mahasena.
